amy-smile-sheri-photoshoot-2Born and raised in Orlando, Florida- Amy’s imagination was continuously nurtured and fed with frequent trips to Disney World-
“I know it sounds odd, but I already had a huge imagination- and going to Disney, for me, was like spending the day on the playground of my imagination. There was nothing I could not envision and nothing I did not believe was possible. Disney had a huge influence on my spirit of creativity. “- Amy V.

At the age of sixteen, she was traveling to 28 states and three countries touring with a musical ensemble. She has now traveled to nine countries.

Amy feels it is in traveling abroad that she was given the opportunity to open her mind as well as her heart to greater creativity.
By 25 years old she had opened two successful hair salons- all the while continuing her writing, song writing and performing.
Her music received radio play in Orlando and she was performing frequently. It was difficult for Amy to choose between music and writing as a first love.

“I went with what I felt the most natural with. Music is my heart, yes… but writing is like a second skin to me.  Something that after I am done creating- truly feel as though a force “other” than me was involved in the process. In creativity- that is a magical thing. When you can sit down and write a short story in twenty minutes without taking a breath…to be in that kind of zone.”- Amy V.
It was in her late 20’s when Amy began to really hone in on the niche that has now become a grass roots movement-
“I had started writing a book- kind of a how -to guide for women… seemed only natural with the articles I had written prior and the drive I had to write something that I felt came natural to me.  One day I pulled out my yearbooks from high school; I looked through the years and started to read what all my friends had written. Every year, almost every person, saying along the lines of ‘I don’t know what I would do if I couldn’t come to you with all my questions about guys… and girls… and love and life.’ –over and over I read comments like these. I think it was then that it hit me, ‘I have been doing this all along’- that is when I felt something shift in me, as if everything just fell into place at once.”- Amy V.

At the suggestion of  a mentor, Amy started a blog to not only sharpen her writing skills but to also build a following of people that may find a connection with what she was writing about.

“I had no clue how to create a blog. What I was going to write about- how to build it- nothing. I just kind of jumped in head first and taught myself along the way.  No one helped me- which is how I like to do things sometimes. It took me awhile to find my voice. At first I listened to suggestions to be more “Sex and the city” and find my Mr. Big and write about who I am interested in… I tried that and it failed miserably , as I created offenses with some people with what I was writing . But I learned from it- and I chose to block every other voice but my own. That is when I started finding my flow and the readers started multiplying faster than I could keep up with. I treated it like a full time job. I gave it my all and still do… I wasn’t afraid to fail and I think that was part of what contributed to its fast growth.”- Amy V.

Today, Amy V has a cult following that shows no sign of slowing down.

Her book-  Aphro-ME-siac: A girl’s guide to the ultimate aphrodisiac is coming out this year.
She has created a T-shirt line and candle line in the process.
And her blog keeps receiving awards and subscribers along the way.
“At the end of the day- all I truly hope out of what I put my hand to and create,  is to make people laugh and ask the tough questions for themselves. I rarely give advice; I simply think out loud and let the thought go to the reader- hopefully in asking questions and expressing things that most people are afraid to speak out loud- people can identify and feel safe to seek the answers to those questions. I am not afraid to talk about anything. I am not afraid to admit my thoughts, successes  and my failures along the way.  I am not afraid to admit my mistakes and share those mistakes and lessons– which is the reason I named it “My bedroom blog” in the first place- it is where I bare it all…”- Amy V.

Off of the success of the blog – VTALK was born. A half hour show based off of the topics Amy writes about.
Next comes video…
“I want to do it all. My music, VTALK, VTALK on the streets, clothing line, full product line, more books- my mind does not stop. It is constantly creating something new to bring to life from it all. I love what I do. I am blessed and grateful and even more grateful for the people I have found that identify with my writing. They are friends to me- and every time I hear from them it truly makes me feel so grateful for what I am building. To have friends all over the world… this is a beautiful thing.”- Amy V.
